Class Stays
The Story
Frankwell sits on the western bank of the Severn loop, just across the Welsh Bridge from the old town. It has always been a working part of Shrewsbury rather than a tourist one — which is part of why the location works. You are two minutes from the Welsh Bridge and The Armoury, ten minutes from The Square on foot, and the Quarry Park is a short walk along the river in the other direction.
Class Stays operates on a self check-in model — a door code rather than a reception desk, which suits late arrivals, early departures and anyone who prefers not to work around someone else's schedule. The rooms are modern and properly equipped: smart TVs, coffee machines, private bathrooms. No compromises on the basics.
Self check-in gets a bad reputation from the budget end of the market. Class Stays shows what the format looks like when it is done properly — clean, well-equipped rooms and the freedom to come and go without coordinating with a reception desk. The Frankwell location puts the Welsh Bridge, the river and the town centre all within a few minutes' walk.
Enjoy Your Stay
Walk to the Welsh Bridge, two minutes from the front door. The view of the Severn from the bridge is one of the better starts to a morning in Shrewsbury. Cross into the old town and the market area is ten minutes on foot from there.
Follow the river south from Frankwell along the path inside the loop. The Quarry Park is fifteen minutes on foot. The formal gardens are free and the river walk back is more interesting than the road.
The Armoury is three minutes from the hotel, immediately beside the Welsh Bridge. One of the best pub lunches in Shrewsbury — locally sourced food, real ales and a Victorian riverside building that earns its reputation.
Cross the Welsh Bridge into the old town. The Bear Steps, the market and Shrewsbury Castle are all reachable on foot within fifteen minutes of each other. The town is compact enough to cover properly in one afternoon.
The self check-in model means no curfew and no one to report to on the way back in. Frankwell is a quiet street to return to after an evening in the town — close enough to walk, far enough from the centre to sleep well.
